IBIZA airport spotting places

 Spot 1 when leaving the airport towards Ibiza town, on the right side of the road just where the airport fence ends there is a small road where a garden center is, follow the road straight and you arrive to the airport fence next to the taxiway to rwy 24. The fence is about 2 meters high, a ladder would be better, although you can take some pictures between wall and fence. This place is only for afternoon after 4:30 pm. Update April 2005 a new fence has been placed some meters behind the old one making spotting almost impossible now.

      Spot 2 leaving the airport to Ibiza town when you arrive to a traffic circle take the next exit to your right to the

      road to Salinas beach and about 700 m on the right side you will see a parking from the disco bar DC-10,

      there you can take pictures from landing planes on rwy 24 in the afternoon after 4:30 pm.

Spot 3 same way as to spot 2 but continue a little further, after passing the rwy lights there is the DC-10 disco bar on the right side, in front (left side of the road) there is another parking to take pictures of landing planes on rwy 24 during the morning and since about 4:00 pm. Update June 2005: a chain has been placed at the parking entrance making it only possible to walk in.

Spot 4 same way as to spot 3, but after passing the DC-10 disco bar continue for about 50 m and then on the right side where a big fig tree is, enter a gravel road and follow the airport fence until the fence turns into a wall, there it is rwy 24 threshold, a small ladder would be better, the wall is about 2m high. Good place for landing planes and line ups on rwy 24, all the morning and since about 4:00pm Update April 2005: this winter they have put a fence over the wall which makes it very difficult now to use this spot. I still make pictures from lined up planes placing the lense as close as possible to the fence shooting through it, but it´s not what it used to be.

Spot 5 same way as for spot 4 but continue the gravel road until the wall turns into fence again, there you can take pictures from planes leaving rwy 06 after landing or rwy 06 take offs, also touch downs for rwy 24. Also as for spot 4 a small ladder would be better. Sun all morning until 4:00pm. Update April 2005: as at spot 4 the new fence over the wall makes it very difficult for landings 24/take offs 06, but still good for take offs 06 from a small hill just across the road.

Spot 6 when you are in spot 4 or 5 just continue the gravel road all the way until  the end and you arrive to a pebbly beach where you can take pictures from landing planes to rwy 06 all the morning until about 4:00pm, no ladder is needed there.

Spot 7 the same as spot 6, but for afternoon shots after 4:00 pm.

Spot 8 this one is for afternoon pictures of planes landing , lining up or in the holding bay of rwy 06, visibility is not the best because of surrounding trees, but you can shot between em, no ladder is needed because there is a small hill beside the road from where you can take pictures over the fence. To reach that place just when leaving the airport turn to the left, (signalized with red in the picture above) continue that road until the first curve and turn again left, then follow that road that goes parallel to the airport fence until rwy head 06 where the road turns to the right, here you are.

Spot 9 the same way as for spot 8, but stop when you arrive to the taxiway. Good place for afternoon take off shots from rwy 24, but bad for taxiway shots because of the high fence in front.
