Incident Touch and Go in Valencia
The 21st of June 1967, during a night instruments practice flight, doing simulated GCA’s in Manises, (Valencia) an incident took place, fortunately without consequences.
That day in the late afternoon, early evening, in a dual control, the pilot occupying the rear seat on the cockpit was under the hood and in the front seat was the instructor. They started to do the GCA’s in Manises and in one of them they managed to performe a “Touch and Go”.
In that “Touch and Go”, while the airplane was rolling on the runway, the instructor forgot in his notes a part of the procedure of Go-Around and he didn’t place the flaps in Take-Off position.
As they were left on Land position, when thy started on the Touch and Go and with the BLC (blowing hot air) engaged, the airplane was running on the runway with the nose down and without coming up no matter how hard they pulled on the joy stick.
When they finally realized what was happening, the placed the flaps in Take-Off position, started the afterburner and lifted off at the last bails on the end of the run way, scratching what they could and taking it with them.
A great fright that they did not forget any of two pilots, since they left of the track in the career of takeoff.
